The web talks about it:

SsangYong is famous for styling that only a mother could love - and even that is debatable - but point
a Rexton towards an obstacle such as Sani Pass and no problem.
The Rexton is the style exception. Compared to some of its stablemates - especially the Stavic
MPV that looks like a nasty style prank that slipped into production by mistake -
it seems almost normal. Well, from behind anyway. The front end is unabashedly Mercedes-inspired
but with a Picassoesque touch.
SsangYong still uses Mercedes power although it has ditched the cheesy stickers
“Powered By Mercedes-Benz” on the rear windows. She may feel that she has acquired enough
credibility as a brand
The second generation Rexton was launched in South Africa in July as a cheaper alternative
from Korea to large luxury SUVs such as the BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and VW Touareg. It received changes from
styling inside and out and arch-filling 18" alloy wheels replaced the
old 17" items.
Mercedes' 2.7-liter turbo diesel engine under the hood is the unit that powered several Benz models,
including the M-Class. Benz replaced it with a 3.2 turbo diesel, but the 2.7 still packs a power
decent 121kW and 340Nm powering the wheels via a five-speed sequential automatic gearbox
gears with touch-sensitive gearshift and selectable all-wheel drive.
Like any large SUV, the all-wheel drive Rexton is synonymous with practicality and comfort, with capacity
off-road for those who yearn for weekend adventure. The cabin can accommodate seven to five people
in the first two rows and two people with reduced mobility vertically in a third row
which can be folded into the floor.
With that third row folded, there's a truly giant trunk that effortlessly swallowed four people's luggage for a ski trip
Access to this maw is via an upward-opening tailgate or a folding rear door window.
The cabin is spacious and passengers are accommodated on comfortable leather-covered seats.
The driver's seat is electrically adjustable (with memories) and the steering column adjusts in
height.
The luxuries are numerous: CD/radio, air conditioning, woodwork, electric windows, remote control for the
central locking, tinted windows and electric folding mirrors. However, while the vehicle
Korean has all the features expected of a luxury SUV, don't expect an M-Class.
The Rexton's plasticky dashboard and flimsy switchgear don't have the same classy feel.
