the press is talking about it :

Pacifica's utility is a major selling point, but safety is always a primary focus. Early in the vehicle's development, it was codenamed "The Protector." (Chrysler Pacifica was developed in 30 months at a cost of less than $1 billion.) The production model is one of the first in the world to offer a three-row curtain airbag as standard equipment. The ceiling-mounted side curtain airbag deploys downward and provides full coverage of the side windows. Additionally, a new safety feature called an inflatable knee blocker located just below the steering column helps reduce leg injuries in the event of a collision. It also helps properly position the driver to take full advantage of the safety benefits of the seat belt and regular air bags. The driver and passenger airbags deploy at different levels depending on the severity of the accident. Two charges in the air bag module are triggered separately. A minor impact will trigger a low-power deployment while a severe impact will deploy a more powerful response. THE EXTERIOR: Before you get the impression that this is a North American version of a dull Swedish Safe Mobile, it must be said that it is also a beautiful beast. It's long and sleek, and the black molded beltline, which runs from the bottom of the windshield to the taillights, gives a solid look. The all-new grille still has some PT Cruiser indicators, but it's bolder. The bumper features chrome accents that tastefully separate the underside from the upper body shape. Located above the fog lights are large projector lights, low beams and parabolic lights. The rear is characterized by its integrated black spoiler which extends the roofline and houses a centrally mounted brake light. The large rear bumper, similar to the front, features chrome accents.
THE INTERIOR: Now we can talk about utility and luxury. The six-seat cabin interior allows passengers to make entry and exit easy. There are three rows of seats, with the second and third folding flat, creating ample cargo space. Heated leather-trimmed seats in the first and second rows have armrests, and the power driver's seat adjusts to 10 positions. Pacifica's options list includes many premium items, including a navigation system whose screen is in the central information cluster behind the steering wheel (see accompanying story), a six-disc Infinity Intermezzo 5.1 digital surround sound system, in-dash CD/DVD changer, SIRIUS satellite radio, UConnect, hands-free communication, and a power liftgate. The ignition switch is conveniently located on the dashboard, designed with precise, snug-fitting surfaces and featuring satin silver accents. A wood accent is used on the dashboard and continues on top of the doors into the second row seating area. THE WORKS: The fabulous 3.5-liter SOHC V6 engine from the mighty Chrysler 300M powers the Pacifica, but don't expect the same acceleration, because there's more to the car than just its looks. Still, the engine works once cruising speed is reached, and the AutoStick nicely mimics the feel of a manual transmission if that's your thing. The car has a wide track for optimal handling and stability. Although the Chrysler Pacifica sits taller than most passenger cars, its suspension, steering and ride are calibrated to achieve the handling qualities of a sports sedan. The vehicle does not share components with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but it does share a common rear suspension design.
