The web talks about it:

.

Well, above all. Several deaths on highways, attributed to a lack of stability during
high-speed lane changes, took away some of the early luster of classy appeal
of the Audi coupe, and the magazine's road testers criticized its inert steering and chassis.
Despite all this, sales soared: before the arrival of the new Mini,
the TT was the car of choice.

While this makes the TT sound a little non-evo, there is a certain degree of truth to this notion,
especially with the 148 hp and 178 hp front-wheel drive convertible versions.
But while a Nissan 350Z or Porsche Boxster will always be the more exciting choice
for the enthusiast driver, a four-wheel drive TT coupe with either the
1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 222 hp or 237 hp, or the four-cylinder engine
1.8 liter turbocharged, or the 3.2 liter, 247 hp V6 that brought the transmission option
DSG, constitutes a significant and exciting alternative. Provided you like the way it looks,
of course.

A loyal member of the TT Owners Club since 2003, Chris Wood owns two of the Audi coupes and
is a long-time Audi fan.

“I ended up with a TT mainly because I couldn't find an Audi
S2 in decent condition and in desperation I looked at other options. I bought a TT 225 in 2003.
What I really wanted was a manual V6, but Audi assured me it would never
only available with the DSG. A year later, Audi changed its mind…

“My 225 suffered corrosion of the roof bars and the lighting of one of the switches
electrics broke down, but both were sorted under warranty. Otherwise, I had no
problem.

“After three years I cut the 225 for one of the very last TT mk1s, a blue V6 manual
Kingfisher, which I still own. I don't use it every day and I haven't gone through
only 9500 miles in the car, but I took it for a fantastic trip with the club until
Lake Garda in Italy - 2500 miles in ten days - and also with the TT Owners Club I went
three times to the Isle of Man. On a run it gives 30-32mpg, but drops to 25mpg around town.
“I know some testers are cynical about the TT, but I really rate it for driving.
