The Navara retains a part-time 4x4 system for this version. It uses a dial configuration
rotating which sporadically requires patience from the driver when entering and exiting the range
low for hills and other low-speed work around town or on the job site. Since the guard
to the ground is 217 mm (less than a Subaru Forester), this patience should also extend to all
off-road antics.

There is no option for 4WD on road with the center diff open - it becomes
a priority when driving in wet and slippery winter conditions. In the four locked tops,
It's getting better, but the stock road bias rubber didn't like the muddy conditions.

gets the job done without being too heavy-handed in its intrusion, but the ability to run all four
Wheels on a sealed surface would be a handy feature, as would a standard rear lock
differential.

A brake-operated limited-slip differential feature is fitted instead, and it –
with traction and stability control - does a half-decent job in conditions
slippery and undulating, but a mechanical lock does not need to slip to work.

There is also no hill start or descent control function in the electronic arsenal,
but the latter in particular doesn't miss too much with low range.
