The latest addition to the South Korean motorcycle stable is a bit hit or miss

South Korean motorcycle maker Hyosung has been doing well in the Indian market since its partnership
with the DSK group. Its GT650R has been the flagship product since its entry into our market.
Although this Hyosung sports motorcycle has gained a good number of fans,
The company has recently incorporated some modifications on the GT650R which comes in a new skin.
But was the transformation exercise really effective? We tried to find out.

The GT650R has always been an attractive machine, turning heads and stopping conversations
wherever she goes. In 2013, his nose was redesigned for a cleaner look while
helping aerodynamics improve. The headlights, which were bulb-shaped on
the previous model, have now been reduced to become much more slender.
The single headlight unit is now V-shaped and the wind visor is also more rounded,
for better protection against wind at high speeds.
The instrument console of its new model has been redesigned with a digital speedometer
and a bold analogue tachometer, as well as the usual array of indicator lights.
The LCD panel also displays a fuel gauge and thermometer.
Ergonomically, we found the pilot's hand grips comfortable,
with conveniently placed control switches. Another additional equipment on the new bike
is an adjustable front brake lever. However, we found the adjustment dial to be rather crude
and difficult to use. The GT650R also features redesigned side body panels
and a sharper rear fascia. The seat is cleverly designed to sit on the huge tank
of 17 liters of fuel and certainly complements the sporty appeal of the bike. A collector
elongated exhaust lends a macho look to the rear of the GT650R.
The motorcycle sports three new color shades: an aggressive mix of red, black and white.
The bike's machined alloy bits add to the overall appeal, but the quality and fit
and the plastic finish of the dashboard and indicators are not up to standard
that one would expect on a motorcycle belonging to this high-end segment.
It retains the 647 cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke V-twin engine,
capable of delivering a maximum power of 72.6 hp at 9,000 rpm, with maximum torque
of 6.2 kg at 7,500 rpm. Double overhead camshaft engine breathes through four valves
and fuel injection is standard. However, the throttle response problem
from its previous version has not been resolved and the supply of energy is still slightly delayed.
