That said, the 13.2 mpg I achieved was surprisingly close to the EPA's combined estimate of 14 mpg.
I engaged the four-wheel drive system for a good portion of my time in the truck - all
wheels were powered for more than half of my stint - making my economical figure even more
surprising.
My guess is that buyers are, on the whole, more concerned about shipping than saving money.
fuel. When it comes to proving a bed to throw stuff on, the Titan is up there with the best.
The folding tailgate extension cage doesn't quite open up the same range of possibilities as a full bed
length, but it is an acceptable compromise. And the utili-track channel was well built and very useful when
was about securing a wide range of oddly shaped items in the bed (again, I'm a sucker
for anything that is modular or configurable). The factory bedliner should be standard, but Nissan
is not the only one to offer it as part of an options package.
Overall, the Titan is a well-designed truck that I wouldn't hesitate to call very competitive -
if it was only a few years ago. The pickup truck market is vicious. If Nissan seriously wants
fight against domestic automakers, he's going to have to lower the price of this truck or modernize
its chassis. Probably do both of those things, actually. And as much as I hate to say it, brighten up the interior
wouldn't hurt his chances.
This may seem like an impossible or unfair challenge for Nissan, but Detroit knows its pickups pay the price.
invoices and it continues to improve its offers. I sincerely hope that foreign competitors, including Nissan,
will step up their game.
