The web talks about it:

My wife drove a 2006 FX35 and absolutely loved it. As much as I would love to buy him a new one,
I think a low mileage used '04 or '05 model might be better suited financially
for us than a brand new MY06 or MY07. Thanks to the excellent information from the members of this forum,
I now have a pretty decent idea of the features included in each package
(touring, sport, technology), specific to each model year.
I'm now wondering if there are reasons NOT to buy an '04 model over an '05, or vice versa.
I think '03 was the first year of production, so I think we'll avoid the bugs from the first
year (if there was one), whether we settled for an '04 or an '05. I would love your comments!
I know very little about these multi-segment SUVs.
Honestly, I would recommend that your wife take a test drive in both 2004 and 2005.
About a year ago, when I took my '04 vehicle into service, while I was waiting,
My salesman asked me if I wanted to drive an '05. Of course, I said of course, and what a difference.
The '05 has a considerably softer suspension. Driving comfort is superior, but handling
suffers noticeably. I think the 2005 is the best FX of all the models because of the taillights
(the chrome everywhere on the 2006+ models bothers me), but obviously that's subjective.
I'm very concerned about handling, and if you never plan on using aftermarket suspension
but you care about performance, I'd go with an '04. Anyway, it's an FX and you can't
not lose)
